The International College of Kenshusei ( I.C.K) is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) that offers training and education in the Security/Hospitality Industries as well as the Sport and Recreation industry.
The College began in Bendigo central Victoria Australia in 1994 under the direction of local martial arts identity Mr Barry Johnston, now director of the International College of Kenshusei. Mr Johnston holds a 5th Dan in traditional Karate (former Australian representative of the 1981 Kyokushin full contact Karate championships in Jakarta) has a sound knowledge of the security and fitness industry, as it was his profession for 12 years prior commencing the college.
The original focus of the college was in the development of training programs for the martial arts industry. ( I.C.K) has been involved in the writing of generic courses for the industry including the ANTA approved course in ‘ martial arts to music instruction’ and has recently assisted curriculum writers from ‘ Sport and Recreation Australia’ in the development of units of competence in sport coaching for the martial arts industry. ( I.C.K) currently deliver training for the newly revised qualifications for the fitness industry. Certificate III in Fitness (Fitness Instructor) and Certificate IV in Fitness (Fitness Trainer) are the qualifications now accepted as the minimum standard for people wanting to work in the fitness industry as instructors and personal trainers.
( I.C.K) began security training in 1999 on a part time basis, and today operates full time, offering traineeships (Vic) and fee for service courses. Our core business for security is the provision of a full range of Security/Law Enforcement training. We offer our training services in the field of Corporate and retail Risk Management, Assessment and Workplace Training, and Security Operations Training services, to meet the industry standards according to the Australian Quality Training Framework. ( I.C.K) provides service to both small and large customers, Government and corporate Enterprises in the national and international sphere. Our competitive advantage lies in our ability to provide experienced, efficient and highly trained staff, capable of carrying out a full range of academic and practical training services to our clients.
Our college, participants are from a wide range of ethnic, socio-economic, religious and educational backgrounds. Management and staff of ( I.C.K) operate in an environment that requires respect for the rights of others and responsibilities for one's own actions.
( I.C.K) now deliver training nationally via its famous flexible learning program. Physical offices are located in Melbourne, Bendigo in Victoria, Sydney in New South Wales, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast and Brisbane in Queensland. New physical locations are currently being opened around the nation.
( I.C.K) provides an ongoing support network to all ( I.C.K) its members. In the Sports Coaching and fitness field we provide on going student support by keeping our students in touch with the latest training workshops and continuing education credit courses to ensure that their qualifications are kept up to date. In the field of security we offer our students help and guidance in relation to obtaining work within the industry. In fact we have over a 95% success rate in finding positions for our graduates.

The Mission of the International College of Kenshusei is two fold:
First, it is our objective to offer the best training and education programs possible. It is our intent to develop an organisation of quality and integrity that offers our clients nationally endorsed qualifications in an enjoyable class setting. Our goal is to develop an organisation with a level of excellence where all work for the good of the program. We want to develop a synergistic group where the “whole” of the organisation is greater than the sum of its parts.
Second, we want to establish ICK as an International training and education organisation. We want ICK to be considered a leader in the field of education and training. Our goal is to be at the cutting edge of the industries that we serve and to continually develop new and innovative ways to market and implement our programs. We want ICK to be known for delivering quality courses and services. We want to be the innovators not the imitators.
